“It is never too late to be what you might have been.” – George Eliot

Loose rock slips.
I climb higher,
Almost there.
Her voice rushes over me,
Urging me closer.
Her scent, her
Primeval perfume
Pulls with the
Force of life and death.
I can’t resist.
My fingers sink into earth;
She grabs my hair
With wild hands.
Almost…
I lift my face
To the sun, and
The whole world unfolds –
Blue as far as
The eye can see.
Salt weaving
Inside my soul.
White whispers
So smooth,
So soft,
So utterly devouring.
I close my eyes and breathe in
Deeply.
And in that moment,
Live for a lifetime.
